Frequently Asked Questions about Classes, Fees, and Make-up Classes
(For questions about which yoga to choose and what to bring to class look at the Yoga FAQs)
How do the Sessions work?
I teach in sessions (see this year's session dates). I like this because it helps me build a knowledge of my students' practice, helps me watch their progress over time, and encourages a mutual commitment.
Students pay by the session, not by the class or set of classes. See the prices here.
The more you come to class, the lower the per-class rate ends up being for you.
The less you come to class, the higher the per-class rate ends up being for you.
The upshot: you decide. We encourage you to get the best possible value from your sessions by attending all your scheduled classes. Make up classes are occasionally available but definitely not guaranteed.
What if I can't commit to a whole session?
There are drop in sessions occasionally available for students who have practised with me before. Drop in classes offer much more flexibility and are charged at 180rmb per class. Let us know if you'd like to be notified of drop in opportunities and we will put you on the list.
What if I can't come to class? Can I get a make-up class?
Lives are busy and sometimes we can't make a class - we understand this.
If you need to miss a class, and you give me sufficient notice to offer your space to another student, then I definitely offer a make-up class if there is space in another appropriate class in the same session. While there are no guarantees because classes are subject to availability, experience to date has shown that everyone gets an opportunity for a make up class.
Note: if you miss class in the final week of a session, you will most likely not be offered a make up class because make ups don't roll over. So - please go to class!
How do I sign up for my make-up class?
Make-up and drop-in vacancies are announced and reserved on a WeChat group chat. Students should add Yonnie on WeChat and they will be added to the group. The group is only available to the session's current students and past students who wish to be notified of drop-in opportunities.
The system is very simple: post the class, date and time you are going to miss onto the WeChat group. The first student to post saying they want that make-up opportunity is the student who gets it.
You cannot reserve a make-up in any other way.
If you miss your make-up class, it will not be rescheduled. If you know you will miss it, post it onto the WeChat group.
Remember, make ups do not roll over into the next session. They are not guaranteed.
How much notice is enough notice?
If would like to benefit from a make up class system, then we ask that you contribute to it. No-shows or last minute cancellations can not be offered any make up classes.
If your class between 7am and 1pm, you'll need to let the WeChat group know by 7pm the night before.
If your class is at 6pm, you'll need to let the WeChat group know by noon (12pm) that day.
Even if you won't be eligible for a make-up, post your vacancy on the WeChat group. Someone else will be grateful!
The upshot of all this is: go to class!
Do make up classes roll over to the next session?
Can make up classes be rescheduled?
We expect people to show up to their scheduled classes. We understand that sometimes absences simply can't be avoided so we offer to schedule make up classes for you. If you miss a make up class, it can not be rescheduled.
Can I do a 'drop in' class?
Yes, if you're a previous student and there's space in a suitable class. You'll need to arrange it in advance. The cost of a drop in class is 180rmb payable at the class. We notify previous and existing students of drop-in opportunities.
Cancellation fees for private classes (1-1 and private small groups) are set out on the private class page.
Cancellation fees for group classes:
Cancellation before the session begins: the deposit.
Cancellation after the session begins: the full course fee.
Cancellation for drop-in classes:
Cancellation more than 24 hours before the class: no fee.
Cancellation less than 24 hours, or "no show": the class fee is payable.
When you enrol in a group class, please pay a non-refundable deposit (see here for current deposits & prices). Paying the deposit reserves your place in the class. The balance of the course fee is payable at the first class.
Class fees are payable in full at the first class. Drop-in class fees are payable at the class. Current prices are listed here.
Can I share my classes with someone else?
If you're an existing student with Yonnie and are very experienced in yoga, we can consider this in exceptional circumstances.
If you're a new or student, then no. It compromises the safety of the students who are sharing the class because they each only hear half of the safety points introduced.
