Ashtanga Led Primary / Mysore Style
Playing with Ashtanga
Classes are based on the structure of the Ashtanga sequence. This class is suitable for students already familiar with the Ashtanga sequence who are willing to experiment with deviating from sequence. It is also suitable for students without any background in Ashtanga that are interested in a dynamic yoga practice.
Led Ashtanga classes
In Led Ashtanga classes, students will be verbally guided through the Ashtanga Primary Series sequence.
Led Ashtanga level 1 classes follows the Ashtanga sequence up to Navasana, which is roughly half way through the sequence.
Led Ashtanga level 2 classes are for students that are ready to explore some of the more physically challenging postures beyond navasana.
These classes are suitable for students who prefer verbal guidance throughout their practice. Level 1 classes cover relatively simpler postures. Level 2 classes include more advanced postures.
Level 1/2 covers the more advanced elements of Level 1 and the simpler elements of Level 2.
Mysore style Ashtanga class
Mysore style classes refer to the traditional method of teaching Ashtanga Yoga. The instruction is one-on-one within the group class setting. Students practice their own portion of the Ashtanga sequence at their own pace.
Mysore style allows students to focus on the subtler aspects of Ashtanga yoga practice without the stimulation of teaching cues. In such classes, we can experience the more meditative aspects of Ashtanga yoga.
I offer adjustments or verbal instruction according to each student's needs and abilities.
This class is suitable for students who are familiar with the Ashtanga sequence, or enthusiastic beginners who are committed to practising what we have learned in class on their own outside of class time. Classes are silent.
