I am a certified yoga therapist with a graduate diploma in yoga therapy, a 500 hr E-RT, and am a L1 MovNat certified instructor. I have a BA in politics and women's studies and am a qualified Australian lawyer.
I learned yoga therapy through over three years of watching my teacher and supervisor Dr Natesan Chandrasekaran MD, one of the world's most respected authorities in yoga therapy. His clinic was also the classroom. Dr NC used tools of yoga to treat a wide range of ailments. Some of his patients came because of stress, anxiety and depression. Some had heart conditions, thyroid problems, shoulder pains, back pains and knee pains. Interestingly enough, a significant number of his patients were the family members of surgeons who encouraged their own to pursue yoga therapy rather than surgery.
Part of my training was through theory and books. But the most valuable learning happened over hundreds of hours following the cases of real patients. Observing what the very simple and non invasive techniques of yoga can offer to people seeking treatment for their conditions. Dr NC continues to supervise my cases.
I have used yoga to help students with conditions including: spinal disc herniations, post knee surgery recovery, post natal recovery, arthritis, depression, anxiety, polycystic ovarian syndrome, early menopause and obesity.
